i have tried using the kjv but would like a good one in regular english rather than old english and i have been brainwashed into distrusting all of them.

After my exit, I bought one of those 8-way translations (hard to find these days, out of print!) and used it exclusively. My brother was also studying intensely and was using "The Message" Bible, as referred to him by a Pastor of a local church... I'm not saying it's literally "word for word" accurate, but if you want to read the Bible in ENGLISH and have it tell the story in a way that is meaningful, it's great.

Compare Galatians or Romans reading The Message with the same books from the NWT or KJV, and you'll see what I mean.

i posted this on another thread but it really got me thinking about how the wts could really do this:.

the wts needs to stop spending so much cash.. they have real estate but once sold and the proceeds used it offers no more value.. they need to simplify, simplify, simplify (and isn't that the mantra they recite each time they make an organizational change?).

they could: push more and more printing to the individual publishers in order to cut down on printing costs (this may only apply to developed countries but it still would result in significant savings).

drew: They probably could pull in over a billion dollars in a year if they really pushed hard enough.

Not to take the thread in a different direction, but I'm actually surprised that they never pushed the 10% tithe... as a "modern day parallel" to what the Israelites did. They actually have enough scriptural "backing" to push that argument...

Exercise Check-In Log

after loubelle's exercise thread, i thought it would be a fun idea to keep a log here and check in with everyone.. i walked 30 minutes yesterday plus after walked to the police station and the witch store about 3 miles away from the y.. food: .

breakfast: 2 pieces of toast: one with pb and the other with honey, coffee.

lunch: hardboiled egg, ham, cheese stick.

I missed last night's walk... I was getting a shooting pain in my right knee and felt it best to not push it.... gave it the night off.

Of course, I should have gone out to the garage and done some upper body/arm work with weights, but I did not...

Missed one day over the long weekend, due to a long night of debauchery with my brother on July 3rd... but, I've met my 6 miles/night goal other than that. Might miss tonight--the right knee is bothering me a bit today, and I might need to give it a break. Been eating well, too... so why aren't the pounds melting off faster? I've been mixing walking and running/jogging into the six mile routine, to break it up. Oh, only got 3.9 miles last night instead of six--my youngest daughter went with me, and she was thirsty part way through, AND my on-call pager went off, so we had to take a shortcut home.

When has the Society ever given a flying fig about the cost of their "simplifications" to the rank & file? They don't care how much you have to spend!
They will almost certainly do this within the next 5-10 years, at least for the "study" Watchtowers and the Kingdom Ministries. Actual literature to be placed may still be printed by them for a bit longer

I agree... I was referring to literature for PLACEMENT not being printed at home. I can see publishers being asked to print their own KM and study articles.
